Joanna's Bio

Joanna’s 3D Art style embellish the transformation of all that surrounds us and inspires into an imaginary magical vision of the reality.  She wants to protect and preserve the beauty of this world for the future generations.

For her the art is like medicine allowing to fight daily pain and disabilities. To express her feelings, she combines 3D structures embedded in canvas with vibrant, deep colours and dynamic lighting.

Joanna was born 1978 in Poland, and she is a permanent resident of the Netherlands. She is a self-taught artist that has been dedicated to the art of painting since an early age. Her early art journey was fascination with aquarelle pencils by applying multiple layers of colour to create a 3D effect. Despite achieving good results, she was never truly satisfied with the richness of colours and insufficient depth of 3D effect. Her style dramatically evolved once she shifted to acrylics and sculpturing on canvas.

Inspired by 3D Renaissance and old Dutch masters paintings she embraces her own 3D style by building an underlaying sculpture that is completely painted and often embellished with light reflecting materials. The mixed media abstract paintings capture the enhanced beauty of nature, and space.

Besides passion for art, she is martial art master (black belt in karate), and she love landscaping her own garden. She is a happy wife, stepmother, and step grandmother to two lovely kids.

Joanna's Artist Statement

We have only one world and one Earth to protect. Let's make sure our home and its natural beauty will be preserved for future generations. Let's make sure there is more to care about and to capture than just old paintings and photographs of the nature that it once was. I aim to capture the nature and world around us and in my dreams these transform into my 3D imaginative paintings.

Art is my medicine, and I use it to fight severe chronic pain and disabilities. It allows me to feel happier and fulfilled when I can transform in my mind the vision of a landscape that inspired me into my own magical dreamscape. This way my dreams come true, and I get to travel the world and Galaxies when my body says no.

I always wanted to achieve the 3D effect in painting that changes with the viewer perspective. This was achieved using 3D structures embedded on canvas which are built with Gesso, and often stones, seashells, or sand. I paint these structures by using multiple layers of acrylic to achieve deep colour saturation. To further enhance the 3D and light bending effects my artworks are embellished with metal foil, sequin, and glitter. The use of the back side lights has an extraordinary glow effect on my paintings.
