Joanna's Bio

Joanna 3D Art is a Netherlands-based, born in Poland, self-taught contemporary artist working at the intersection of painting and sculpture. Her distinctive 3D mixed-media paintings transform landscapes, botanical forms and imagined worlds into vibrant, tactile dreamscapes.

Working with hand-built relief structures, gesso, acrylics and reflective materials, she creates surfaces that interact with light and change visually with the viewer's perspective. Inspired by the richness of nature, Renaissance painting and Dutch Old Masters, Joanna developed her own sculptural approach to contemporary painting.

Her work has been exhibited internationally in Europe and the United States and presented through international art platforms and galleries.

Joanna's Artist Statement

My practice explores the transformation of observed nature into imagined three-dimensional worlds. Working with hand-built relief structures embedded into canvas, I combine gesso, acrylic, stones and other tactile materials with reflective elements to create paintings whose surfaces change with light, movement and the viewer's perspective.

Inspired by landscapes, oceans, botanical forms and the vastness of space, I do not attempt to reproduce nature realistically. Instead, I enhance and reimagine it, translating memories, emotions and impressions into vibrant visual environments.

My work lies between painting and sculpture: colour creates atmosphere, while physical relief gives the image a tangible presence. Light becomes an active part of the work, revealing details and changing the perception of the surface as the viewer moves.

Through this process, familiar landscapes become dreamscapes — places that exist somewhere between the world we know and the worlds we imagine.
